The challenge

WomenCan partnered with Bigfoot Fundraising for their first integrated Tax Appeal, following strong engagement through their GCTI lead-generation campaign.

With rising digital acquisition costs across the sector, the goal was to raise $130,000 while improving efficiency and deepening emotional connection through storytelling.

The solution

Bigfoot developed a clear digital strategy in collaboration with WomenCan and Exuberance, centred on the proposition “The best cancer treatments – for every woman.”

The appeal spotlighted Alex’s story, highlighting the life-saving power of molecular profiling to connect donors emotionally to the cause. Bigfoot led Meta activity as the primary paid social channel, supported by an optimised Funraisin landing page and integrated email coordination.

Testing and optimisation ran throughout the campaign, with creative built around case studies, matched-giving phases, and video storytelling to drive strong engagement across warm and cold audiences.

The impact

The campaign smashed its $130k target, raising $153,000 - a 51% uplift on the previous year’s tax total. Meta performance improved dramatically, reducing cost per result from $602.34 to $89.59,  a 576% efficiency gain.

Warm audiences achieved the highest returns (ROAS 1.03), while cold targeting delivered cost-effective acquisition and expanded reach among new supporters. Video-based ads achieved engagement rates above 6.8% and over 40,000 views, proving the value of authentic, story-driven creative.

WomenCan’s first Tax Appeal with Bigfoot not only exceeded every target but built a strong foundation for ongoing Always-On digital fundraising success.
